This analysis examines the various socioeconomic and political challenges now facing EU leaders and disgruntled citizens. Rapid technological change and open economic borders have resulted in stagnant wages, increased inequality, and new forms of poverty. Meanwhile, additional concerns about the Eurozone’s sustainability, large migration flows and terrorism have contributed to the rise of political parties offering alternative ‘solutions’ that promote xenophobia and nationalism. In light of these developments, this text offers a set of proposals that are designed to improve the EU’s economic, migration and security dynamics.
