This bulletin summarizes the 15 November 2007 meeting of the Congressional Study Group on Asian Security hosted by the East-West Center and entitled "Prospects for Taiwan-PRC Peace under New Leaders." In particular, it considers what Taiwan-China relations would look like under a president Hsieh or Ma Ying-jeou in Taipai and what implications this would have for US policy in the region. It additionally considers Taiwan's domestic political context, cross-straight relations and the significance of China's military build-up.
