This paper focuses on South Africa’s social and economic inequality and the growing discontent it’s stirring. The text’s author specifically describes 1) the demographic disparities which still exist in the country and how they correlate with one’s wealth, life expectancy, HIV exposure, and educational opportunities; 2) what the ANC has done to address these disparities; 3) the ties between an emerging black middle class and the ANC; and 4) the gradual erosion of the ANC’s power.
