This report argues that Australia’s existing methods for gathering and disseminating criminal intelligence overseas are suboptimal. To resolve the problem, Canberra needs to 1) commit more resources to this type of intelligence gathering; 2) create more effective ways to prioritize, streamline, coordinate and evaluate the collection of information and intelligence products; and 3) improve the training associated with criminal intelligence.
