This brief reviews the impact of conflict and crises on women in Pakistan, and the efforts to implement the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda within the country, as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 1325. To accomplish the WPS’ goals, the brief’s author calls for institutions involved in crisis management and response to apply a ‘gender lens’ to their activities; for Pakistan’s government and civil society to back women-led initiatives on peace and security; and for the country’s media to include more women in its discussions of peace, security and foreign policy issues.
