Individual Disaster Preparedness. Risk Perception, Knowledge and Information Needs of the Swiss Population
Switzerland’s contemporary threat and risk landscape has changed in recent years. But which risks do the Swiss public perceive as the most worrisome and what are the information needs of the Swiss public with regard to these threats? This CSS Risk and Resilience Report addresses these questions and more.
Time to Ease Sanctions on Russia
Sanctions have served as a linchpin in the Western strategy to thwart Russian aggression in Ukraine since 2014. In a new addition to the CSS Policy Perspectives series, Andreas Beyer and the Benno Zogg suggest that these sanctions have had limited success in changing Russia’s course and have instead made Russia’s elite even more dependent on the Kremlin’s favor. Thus, it is high time to adapt the strategy and allow for a gradual easing of sanctions, provided Russia takes de-escalatory steps.

This new CSS Study examines the role of non-jihadi islamist actors in the political systems of Libya and Tunisia. While much attention has thus far understandably focused on jihadi actors in Libya and Tunisia, other Islamist actors, who do not subscribe to armed jihad, deserve greater scrutiny. The latter emerged as key actors in the post-uprising environments of these countries.
