Switzerland's pandemic plan focuses on influenza viruses. How useful is this in a coronavirus pandemic? Has Switzerland prepared for the wrong scenario? The answer, as Benjamin Scharte shows in his contribution to the CSS Corona Blog, is both yes and no. Many checklists and tables included in the influenza pandemic plan have only limited applicability in a coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, however, the plan is permeated by the idea of “systemic flexibility”. Because a pandemic never occurs in the way the scenario plays out, Switzerland and its healthcare system must be adaptable.
