If the result of a situation is known, one can come to wrong conclusions about the actions of the people involved. Put simply, it is easy to know everything better in retrospect. This phenomenon can also be observed in the debate on how to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, argues Benjamin Scharte in this CSS Corona Blog article. However, this is misleading. In order to learn the right lessons from the crisis, error-friendly organisational cultures are needed. Also, managers must take into account the conflict of goals between resilience and efficiency and they must know the differences between planning and reality.
