Lynchings have been a constant in contemporary Mexican history. However, these public acts of physical violence against suspected criminals by civilians have increased in number in recent years according to available statistics. In their blog post (in Spanish) for Nexos, CSS' Enzo Nussio and Pablo Parás present new evidence on lynchings in Mexico, which shows that around 10 per cent of the population admits to having participated in events that can be classified as lynching.
