STRATFOR Talks Demography
13 Aug 2012
We at the ISN know that we are nothing without our partners. (Presently 243 of them and counting.) Over the course of our current Editorial Plan, for example, we have regularly featured their expert analyses. We’ve relied upon their articles, studies and policy briefs, which are readily available in our 60,000-item Digital Library, and upon a range of specially-commissioned podcasts and keynote titles.
In keeping with this tradition, and in order to give our partners the maximum opportunity to make their own contributions to our Editorial Plan, over the next several months we will be stepping up the number of original articles and special features we feature from them. These unique contributions will not only include podcasts and other multimedia presentations, but also expert commentaries on a range of issues that shape the international system.
In inaugurating this phase of our plan, we are particularly excited about working with our colleagues at external pageSTRATFORcall_made. This exceptional partner has graciously offered to produce a number of videos over the next few months that will permit us to tell our international relations and security-centered stories with added depth and value. (We hope, of course, to inspire our other partners to follow STRATFOR’s trailblazing, above-and-beyond example.)
We begin the series with George Friedman’s perspective on how long-term demographic trends will impact upon international affairs. He specifically argues that while modern industrialized states are most susceptible to a number of worrisome trends, they nevertheless are well poised to solve the twin dilemmas posed by aging societies and population decline.
