This edition of Connections journal focuses on the study of organized crime (OC). The lead article looks at the political and governance dimensions of organized crime groups in Karachi, Pakistan. The six follow-on pieces zero in on the global dimensions of OC and how international organizations are trying to cope with them; the transnational organized crime challenges faced by Latvia; the links between OC, piracy, and cyber security; the similarities and differences between organized crime and terrorism; and the methods used by the so-called Islamic State to recruit and mobilize foreign fighters.
