This paper introduces a new dataset on earmarked aid, which is alternatively known as multi-bi, restricted, non-core or trust fund aid. The information, which spans from 1990 to 2012, 1) covers more than 100,000 projects generated by 23 OECD donors for 290 multilateral institutions; 2) illustrates the distribution patterns of the aid given; and 3) highlights promising avenues for further research on how to provide effective earmarked aid.
