This paper reviews America's foreign direct investment (FDI) policies, including 1) how the US benefits from FDI; 2) some of the concerns this form of investment raises; 3) how federal oversight of foreign investments has changed, particularly in the wake of the Dubai ports scandal in 2006; and 4) how the US’ FDI policies compare with the rest of the world.
