This publication reflects on migration cooperation between the EU and North African states. More specifically, it examines 1) the evolving significance of migration in the EU’s relations with North Africa; 2) how Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia responded to EU requests to establish regional disembarkation platforms in their territory; 3) other tools the EU is likely to implement instead, as the text's authors argue that the disembarkation platforms appear to be a non-starter, and 4) how the EU and its North African partners can agree to and develop areas of shared strategic interest.
