This year’s version of the Global Peace Index ranks the peacefulness of 163 nations according to 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators that fit into three thematic domains – societal safety and security; domestic and international conflict; and militarization. In addition to providing the Index’s findings, the report also includes an analysis of 1) the Positive Peace factors that are most important for transitioning to higher levels of peace, and 2) existing trends in peacekeeping and militarization, including a cost/benefit analysis that highlights the positive economic benefits of early peacebuilding interventions.
