This report explores internal and external security concerns of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan in the context of US interests and policies toward the region. The author looks at the southern Caucus region in light of post-communist and post-9/11 developments. He shows that internal security problems such as political and economic instability, ethnic conflicts and crime, have resulted in weakend defenses against external security challenges.
