This report explores the role of US international trade policy in enhancing intellectual property rights (IPR) protection and enforcement abroad. The authors state that promoting the enforcement of IPR is an important component of US international trade policy. They also argue that US Congress must consider the appropriateness of FTAs as a vehicle for promoting IPR and address the challenge of balancing the need for IPR protection and enforcement with the goals of the Doha Declaration on Public Health.
