This report discusses the role of civil society in the reintegration of offenders in South Africa society. It presents a survey of 21 organizations working in the offender reintegration and prisoner support field and analyzes the views of practitioners working in these organizations. It identifies a series of challenges confronting reintegration programs and gives suggestions for improving their as yet modest success rate.
