This report analyzes the main factors that inform Egypt's foreign policy toward Africa since Egypt's independence. A member and significant money donor of the AU, Egypt does have a series of stakes in African affairs. Yet the author concludes that Egypt is no longer as actively involved in African affairs as it used to be during Gamal Abdel Nasser's presidency and today places greater emphasis on its role in the Arab League.
