This paper provides an overview of Mozambican electoral law and processes, focusing on challenges such as political participation, electoral fraud and the historic distrust between Mozambique's two main political parties. The author argues that despite positive developments during 1990s, the results of the 2004 general elections prove that democracy has not yet been consolidated in Mozambique.
