This research paper examines the threat posed by transnational organized crime to governance and security in Europe. The paper also analyzes the links between organized crime, corruption, and illicit arms trafficking. The authors present suggestions for possible law enforcement responses to organized crime and arms trafficking, and describe the process of EU Enlargement as a valuable chance to expand and enhance European police cooperation, particularly in Eastern Europe.
