This paper analyzes the geopolitical processes in Central Asia. It examines the global political developments and their impact on the regional situation by looking at Russia’s economic policy toward the Central Asian states and the global crisis. The author argues that all states in the region showed resistance to Russia’s policy and specifically considers the case of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan that most actively challenged Russia’s policy in the region.
