This paper outlines the results of an online poll of Atlantic Community members to determine what they considered the trans-Atlantic policy priorities for this year. The poll results demonstrated a strong interest in fostering strategic relations with Russia. The paper examines three questions in particular: Whether the West and Russia have more common or conflicting interests; whether the US and EU can turn Russia into a strategic partner; and whether the global economic crisis is a window of opportunity to enhance cooperation between these parties. The paper concludes by examining how EU countries could act more cohesively toward Russia.
