This report outlines the phases of a community-centered memorialization project in South Africa. The author shows that if used constructively, memory and memorialization processes can play a significant role in post-conflict reconciliation, recognizing individual victims and survivors of the conflict and allowing different generations to understand the conflict and mediate between the past and the present.
