This article discusses the legal questions that arise from the closure of the Guantanamo detention center, mainly the question of the remaining detainees. From a human rights point of view, the author notes that while the closing of Guantanamo is symbolic, the Bagram prison poses a bigger problem with respect to violations of international law and human rights commitments. The author argues that each EU member state should have the right to decide on its own about a possible reception of Guantanamo detainees.
