This publication explores the place of children and young people in the South African judicial system. It first presents general developments in child justice and international legal instruments pertaining to it. The authors then review developments in this field in South Africa, especially probation services. Finally, they compare existing law provisions on child justice with the content of the Child Justice Bill B 49B of 2002.
