This paper explores the potential impact of climate change on security and conflict in Bangladesh. The authors argue that as the relationship between climate change and security depends on a chain of consequences, climate change-induced environmental degradation can undermine livelihoods and thus reduce basic human security as competition intensifies. The authors provide recommendations and state that the international community needs to strike a balance between policies that prevent climate change and policies that allow people to adapt.
