This monograph suggests that US policy in Somalia since 2001 represents strong trends in US security thinking. It discusses state building as a key tactic of US counterterrorism, exploring the securitization of the Somalian state. The author explores the state collapse and impact on security in Somalia and the role of the US and its counterterrorism efforts. He concludes with a discussion of prospects for peace in Somalia.
