This monograph discusses private security in Africa with a focus on private security in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda and South Africa. It demonstrates how private security companies in these countries are involved in a number of security-related operations. It compares the scope and role of private security and examines how the industry could be effectively controlled and regulated at national, sub-regional and regional level.
