This publication focuses on the elimination of mercenarism in Africa within the private security industry. It aims to inform the revision process of the 1977 OAU/AU Convention on the Elimination of Mercenarism in Africa. The authors argue for the need for a continental approach to deal with the new modes of mercenarism, an emerging and flourishing industry comprised of private military and security companies.
