This monograph advocates regionalization in central Africa, emphasizing human security as the criteria by which state and regime security should be measured. It argues that the lack of regional integration in central Africa may be due to domestic politics and shows that international support for regional integration should not take place at the expense of improvements in domestic political governance. The authors provide a contextual framework to explain the human security challenges of the region. They examine regional relations, how international criminal justice systems can shape regional relations and conflict and the experience of regional integration in central Africa.
