This paper addresses the historical foundations of peace and stability in Zambia. It identifies conflict indicators which explain the Zambian conflict: governance and political institutions, the civil society, the security sector, social and ethnic relations, the economic structure and performance and external factors. In the conclusion the author identifies key areas of conflict in Zambia.
