This paper examines the nature of police corruption in South Africa. It looks at commonly used indicators to assess the scope of the problem and outlines two broad approaches to understanding the problem of corruption in the South African Police Services (SAPS). The paper also puts forward a strategy to combat and curtail police corruption.
