This paper assesses the contribution of the religious establishment to post-apartheid reconciliation in South Africa, focusing on the period during and after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) proceedings. It uses interviews conducted by Bernard Spong (alongside previous research by the author) to examine the ways in which religious institutions interacted with the TRC and to explore how religious institutions continued to address the challenges of post-apartheid reconciliation after the termination of the TRC.
