This paper discusses promoting collaboration between the nationally operative South African Police Service (SAPS) and the municipal Metropolitan Police Services (MPS). It contextualizes the objective of interagency collaboration through an overview of international literature. The paper details lessons in interagency collaboration, explores collaborative initiatives between the SAPS and MPS, compiles an overview of the challenges to effective collaboration and makes recommendations.
