This paper assesses the link between HIV/AIDS and violence against women in South Africa. It contextualizes both violence against and HIV/AIDS among women in South Africa and analyzes arduous efforts to integrate the two. It finds that rape-related concerns have driven legislative responses to a far greater degree than concerns about other forms of violence against women.
