This paper presents a talk on the meaning of racism with special attention to the South African context. Three topical experts mediate the discussion: Dr Barney Pityana, Chairperson of the South African Human Rights Commission; Dr Franz Auerbach, a community worker and freelance journalist focusing on racism in South Africa and the Nazi holocaust; and Basil Manning, Chairperson of the Centre for Anti-Racism and Anti-Sexism (CARAS).
