This report discusses the marginalization of women with physical, visual and hearing disabilities in South Africa and the nature and forms of violence against them. It highlights their vulnerability to violence and the barriers they confront in accessing assistance. The authors discuss national and international research and policy documents on women with disabilities as victims of gender-based violence. They also survey non-governmental organizations and units of the South African Police Services tasked with providing services to survivors. The report concludes with recommendations to increase disabled women's access to justice and support services.
