This report discusses the prevention of youth crime in South Africa; it highlights the needs of local governments and the role they can play. It offers information on preventing criminality among young people as well as examples of interventions that reduce the probability of young people engaging in criminal behavior. The authors suggests linking crime prevention projects with local government safety strategies and implementing youth criminality prevention projects.
