The interim report of the Independent Inquiry Committee into the United Nations Oil-for-Food Programme presents the investigative findings and initial conclusions in the case of alleged unethical practices in conjunction with the UN program in Iraq. The report finds that the director of the oil-for-food program violated standards of integrity and placed himself in a continuing conflict of interest by repeatedly soliciting oil allocations for a small trading company. The authors of the report advocate a greater process of transparency and oversight as a part of their initial recommendations. The final version of the report is expected for summer 2005.
