This report summarizes a workshop on strategic management held for the South African police services in the Johannesburg area in February 2004. It summarizes the presentations that were given and the strengths and weaknesses of various police components and stations. The author focuses on the outcomes of small-group analysis sessions and argues that the priorities for the Johannesburg police remains the reduction of crime and corruption and the improvement of service delivery.
