The report explores crime prevention efforts by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan local government, focusing on its capacity along with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to address rural safety. The authors examine prevalent crimes and the crime prevention role of security agencies in the areas. They discuss crime prevention initiatives and the role of community organizations and review strategies employed by both the metropolitan police and the SAPS.
