This publication investigates how South African media reports on issues around race and racial violence. It shows that xenophobia and prejudicial discourse in South Africa has gained prominence in the post-Apartheid era and receives a lot of coverage in the press. The authors analyze media coverage to assess whether representation of race, racism and xenophobia reflect societal attitudes.
