This report assesses South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and examines its funding. It reviews comparative literature on international support to truth commissions, the TRC's structure and the factors that led foreign governments to assist the TRC. The author assesses different types of international assistance provided to the TRC and assesses the effectiveness of this aid.
