This paper uses data on motives of international outsourcing and location choices from a recent survey of European companies to assess the labor market repercussions at home. Employing Tobit models, the authors differentiate between job losses as well as job creation for high and low skilled employees at the sector level in 10 European countries. They analyze whether employment effects depend on the motives underlying international sourcing as well as the location where it takes place.
