This paper first characterizes the visible external symptoms of the crisis in Russian-EU relations. The second part provides an analysis of the causes of the crisis, both the primary, profound and long-lasting ones, and the secondary ones, which have shorter-term consequences. The third part examines the possible consequences of the crisis for the future of Russian-EU relations and outlines probable scenarios of how these relations may develop.
