This report contains essays arguing for the US Senate to ratify the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). It highlights reasons why the US ought to comply with the weapons control treaty, indicating the harmful consequences of its failure to do so. The authors address issues including national and international security implications of inaction, concerns of CWC activities in Russia and the impact on the US private sector chemical industry. They conclude that the US must engage with international arms control systems rather than risk being excluded.
