This paper examines German gas policy, particularly the question of energy security. The author argues that Germany has succeeded in combining its partnership with the Russian Federation (RF) with the diversification of its sources and routes of gas supplies, both through public support for closer energy cooperation with the RF and its parallel, unpublicized development of relations with other gas-producing countries.
