This issue focuses on the role of the African Union and South Africa in resolving conflicts on the African continent. The contributions examine the leadership role of the African Union in Darfur, as well as the organization's right of humanitarian intervention. The authors also analyze the militarization of the Southern African Development Community, national conflict resolution efforts in South Africa, as well as the relevance of soft power for the South African government's foreign peace policy.
