The policies recommended in this brief focus on primary and intermediate steps towards nuclear abolition. In particular, the authors say that, first, the West must consider the larger security concerns of North Korea and Iran. Second, nuclear disarmament must run parallel to conventional disarmament. Third, the US and Russia must lead the way with deep cuts in their nuclear stockpile.
